Covid-19 Vaccination Programme

The Marches Surgery team is very pleased to be involved with the roll out of the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history.

Covid vaccination services run by family doctors and their teams started across Herefordshire and Worcestershire in mid-December.

The last few weeks have seen practice teams working rapidly to redesign sites and put in place safe processes to meet the tough logistical challenges of offering the vaccination.

The covid vaccine roll-out is being co-ordinated by GP-led primary care networks (PCN), which are groups of general practices working more closely together. Patients living in our PCN (Herefordshire North and West) are being invited to receive the vaccine at Bridge Street Sports Centre.

Patients are being contacted in priority groups when it is their turn to receive the vaccine. Please do not telephone the practice directly to ask for an appointment - an invitation will be sent to you over the coming days and weeks as more vaccine arrives.

We look forward to seeing many of our patients for their vaccination in the coming weeks.

Research and Surveillance Centre Practice

We are proud to have signed up to the Royal College of GPs Research & Surveillance Centre, which will mean we are contributing data about disease levels to this national centre which is the main one monitoring disease activity and outbreaks in our country. The data is all anonymous.

New Staff

We are delighted to announce that two new doctors have joined our team at The Marches Surgery. Dr Isabel Lane will be undertaking 7 surgeries per week, and Dr Catherine Boyce 4 surgeries per week.

At such a difficult time, it is a very positive development that Izzy and Cathy are joining us. They both feel enthusiastic to be starting with us, as do we.

Appointments

The Marches Surgery has worked hard to ensure we can continue to offer a safe service to our patients during this time. If you have a problem and need to speak with us, please contact the surgery via telephone.

Patients cannot visit the surgery unless it is for a pre-booked appointment that has been confirmed by The Marches or Bodenham Surgery.

If you are attending the surgery please come alone if possible, wearing a face covering or mask, this does not apply to children under 11.
For out of hours please phone NHS 111 if you need medical advice when the surgeries are closed.

Stay Alert

We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert. This means you must:

  •    Stay at home if you can
  •    Limit contact with other people
  •    Keep your distance from people not in your household. (2 metres apart where possible)
  •    Wash your hands regularly.
  •    DO NO leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

Patient Participation Group

Engaging the involvement of our patients is a very helpful process to ensuring our services are shaped to best meet patients' needs.

To help us with this we invite any patient who would like to contribute to the practice to join our informal and friendly Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Due to COVID-19 the next PPG meeting will be held virtually! The meeting will take place on:

Wednesday 12th August at 6pm.

We'd like to thank our PPG members for their understanding. If you have any questions, queries or comments please email these to
marches.ppg@nhs.net and one of our team will get back to you.

In order to gather a truly representative sample of patients together, we welcome patients from all manner of diverse backgrounds including young people, students, workers, retired people, people with long term conditions, and people from non-British ethnic groups.

If you are interested in joining the PPG, or are happy for us to contact you occasionally by email as part of an on line patient representation group, please email marches.ppg@nhs.net

Please note that no medical information or questions can be responded to by means of this route of communication with the practice. If you have a concern of a medical nature, please call to make an appointment to talk to a doctor or a nurse.
